Next month’s Guangzhou Light + Building fairs postponed

28 May 2021

The two Guangzhou editions that form part of Messe Frankfurt’s Light + Building portfolio, Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE) and Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology (GEBT), have been postponed due to recent Covid-19 cases in the city. The fairs were originally scheduled to run from 9 – 12 June at the China Import and Export Fair Complex. A new date for the two events will be announced shortly.

Ms Lucia Wong, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd explained: “In response to the latest emergence of cases in Guangdong province, we have decided to postpone the two fairs to safeguard all participants. With exhibitors and visitors due to travel from all over China to attend the fairs, the responsible action at this stage is to delay the fairs until we can be certain that all participants will be able to journey safely to Guangzhou. We will closely observe the developments in the province and remain in contact with the fairs’ stakeholders to find a new show date, which we hope to be able to announce shortly. We would like to thank the industry for their continuous support of GILE and GEBT, and will now focus our efforts on delivering an effective event with a new date as soon as it is safe to do so.”

GILE is the lighting sector’s most influential and comprehensive event in Asia, while GEBT is the region’s premier platform for the electrical engineering, intelligent building and smart home markets. The fairs provide a comprehensive platform for sourcing needs and business opportunities whilst encouraging exhibitors and visitors to share the latest market information and research.

The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition and Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology fairs are part of Messe Frankfurt’s Light + Building Technology fairs headed by the biennial Light + Building event. The next edition will be held from 13 – 18 March 2022 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Messe Frankfurt also offers a series of other light and building technology events worldwide, including Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology, Shanghai Smart Home Technology, Parking China and other events in Argentina, India, Russia, Thailand and the UAE.
